This Journey In

I woke up with a plan for this blog. All deep and meaningful and whatnot. Then it happened. I selected debut album from The Rebirth out of my collection and the rest (as they say) is history.

You may already know them from their track "Evil Vibrations" on the Rewind 4! cd that came out on the Ubiquity label. I, personally, was hooked after that.

If you pick up one album this month (possibly year) it should be this. This came out back in March here in the UK and to say it's superb is an understatement. If you like, Incognito/Cooly's Hotbox/D'Influence/Roy Ayers etc. (basically "good shit") then you'll love this.

I'm loving the rare groove feel of some of the cuts on this cd with my favourite with that feel being "Common Ends".

Before I got off the train a track called " Sinkin' " came on and, no word of a lie, just transported me away from the crowded train into some place that was not claustraphobic (don't watch the spelling if it's wrong) and where I was happy. Doesn't that just make for a great CD when it has the ability to do that?

Don't take my word for it - check it out!

Album of the week: The Rebirth - This Journey In
Track 5 - Common Ends (listen here)
