Lynden David Hall

I'm not sure if I've been busy or under a rock why I haven't heard about this but I only found out how sick he was just this morning. I think I may go to this event.

For the last 2 years Lynden David Hall has been battling a rare form of cancer. He is suffering from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma disease. It is a form of cancer that mainly affects young people in their 20’s and around 1400 people are diagnosed in then UK every year. It is a disease of the Lymphatic system. Lymphatic system is a complex system of lymph organs (such as tonsils and bone marrow) and lymph nodes connected by a network of lymphatic vessels. This system is part of the body’s natural defence against infection. Hodgkin’s Lymphoma usually affects groups of lymph nodes in one area of the body such as the neck or armpit.

In January this year Lynden attended Hammersmith hospital for a Stem Cell transplant. The operation has resulted in him being hospitalised ever since. For nine months he has been in intensive care fighting for his life. His spirit has never been broken though and despite all his problems he has asked if we can help him raise money for fellow sufferers.

On Tuesday 15th November at the Jazz Café in London friends of lynden will be gathering to perform in his honour. Confirmed artists include: Miss Dynamite, Omar, Beverly knight, Terri walker, Shola Ama, Don E & Roachford + djs Diggz & Matt White. We are hoping that the event will be televised or broadcast in order to raise the awareness of this serious condition.

Tickets are £22.50 and will be available from www.meanfiddler.com from Monday 3rd October. If you would like to donate more there will be an opportunity for people to do so on the night. Everyone involved in organising this event has provided their services for free enabling us to donate 100% of the proceeds to various charities of lyndens choice including the Afro Caribbean leukaemia trust.

They're back

They're back! More people reappearing. Floetry are back (again). New album on the 8th November. Can't remember what it's called but the name of it is on their website.

Have to admit. Not a big fan "floetry" but I like the girls individually and what with them being from London and SOUTH London at that (well, only one half but still) gotta support 'em. There's something about the breathy talking and heavy breathing on the tracks that I can't just can't deal with - I like them individually - as in, you sing on a track on your own and you talk/rap on another track on your own. Speaking of which Marsha has a track on Eric Roberson's new one (the Appetizer which I talked about yesterday) that I absolutely LOVE. I also managed to catch them about 2 years ago and they each performed as indvidual artists on a few of Terence Blanchards Scores.

Anyways, out on the 8th November be sure to look out for it!

Bit of this and a bit of that (musically of course!)

OK, I'm kinda halfway through my spring cleaning (don't comment - essay avoidance tactics!) and I just had to come on and write two lines (literally, that's all ya getting).

Syleena Johnson has a new effort coming out on the 19th of this month. I tell ya, this lady is definitely working at her own pace and it's working for me! I absolutely love her voice. This is RnB stuff done really well.

No, snippets today - sure I could find some if I tried hard enough but I can't be bothered and I don't know how to set up a link to share an MP3 so best bet is to just go buy it when it comes out!

Aaahhh now this man on - you should all know. Well, if you don't that's Eric Roberson. I was more than a little bit happy when I discovered that he has ANOTHER cd coming (wooo hooo). Not sure when it's due out but it's called the Appetizer.

Same again, I've got cleaning to do so you are all gonna have to wait to hear it. Or better yet, just go out and buy it when it's released!
