Who killed my brother

I don't often watch Saturday night tv but I was flick through the channels (supposed to be cleaning) and I came across this documentary. Very moving. It centered around Kelso Cochrane who was murdered in 1959 in Notting Hill. See, it seems like years ago but I look at it like this; in 1959 my mother was 3 years old and my grandparents had been in this country all of 5 or six years (if that). It wasn't that long ago. I can't watch programmes like this because they make my blood boil to think about all the things that my grandparents (and my mother as the first generation of kids born here) went through. You may think racism is dead and everyone's over because it's no longer overt. But I think a little more sinister. Those youths that killed Kelso Cochrane are probably around my grandparents age so we pass people with this mentality all the time. Just because they are old doesn't mean they weren't involved and don't think like that still and we all know we learn from our parents........so the cycle continues. Sometimes it so easy to forget what those before us had to go through but every now and then we get reminders.
