Janita & Angela

Swedish born Janita has been on the music scene for a while. Some of you may already be aware of Janita from her last album, "I'll be fine", which featured the track Oh. Well, she released a new project this year called "Seasons of Life". To me, this cd is perfect for lazy summer days and some romantic summer nights. The album has that jazzy/bossa feel that I'm loving...take a listen to a couple of tracks for yourselves - firstly my personal favourite, I only want you, also take a listen to Let me love you and That's how life goes.

The honourable mention this week goes to Angela Johnson (lead singer of Coolys Hotbox) and her sophmore solo effort Got to get it go. To be honest - nothing less than I expected from this artist. Some nice quality tracks on this cd and it is definitely worth some rotation in your cd/mp3 player. Take a listen to tracks All I Need Early Bird and On My Way .

One to watch - Darien

Most of you probably know Darien Brockington from the Foreign Exchange project (which I STILL play). Well, fingers crossed, we can look forward to some solo work from him. If you have no idea who I am talking about check him out on the Foreign Exchange cut (which happens to be my favourite off of the cd) Come Around and on a track from the Big Pooh album Sleepers entitled My mind . He's written for and worked with a whole host of artists. Take a look at his site if you get a chance which is Here.

I've errmmm "come across" a couple of tracks which are not on the website and believe me - he is definitely one to watch.
There's an interview here: http://www.thaformula.com/on_the_grind.htm

***Announcement: I guess you are starting to see the fascination I have with *featured* artists!***

An honourable mention also this week to Sabrina Melheiros and her debut album Equilibria. The majority of this album is definitely of the Brazilian variety and makes for a cd that's makes you want to dance (well it does this for me anyway). I can't say it's a cd I have in constant rotation but it does get some play. Strangely enough (or maybe not to some) this album was produced by Venom who just happens to be Bluey from Incognito's son! The track i'm loving off of this effort is the title track Equilibria.

Rho-Zhe-ay

It's not often that I pick up cd samplers but this was an exception to the rule. What made me purchase it in the first place was pretty much on the strength of the fact that this guy sings my absolute FAVOURITE track from the Platinum Pied Pipers Triple P CD - a song called 50 ways to leave your lover. I'm loving his voice and the feel of his flow and at 24 this singer / songwriter / musician /producer AND arranger has alot more to offer us.

He has some tracks on his website that are not on the sampler that I'm definitely feeling and I'm looking forward to his full length effort (hopefully the wait won't be too long). In the meantime check him out here and here.

Enjoy!

21 days to the A.T.L

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! I’m really looking forward to getting out of the country and even more so to seeing Arvy *big cheer*

The problem is I’m acting like I’ve never been on away before (actually there’s more than one problem – this is the first). I need a new suitcase because……well, just because I want one! I have a nice one that’s too small, I have one that is just the right size but is a hard covered one (I’m getting the train to the airport so it’s NOT about that at all), and bigger one which is, well, toooooooo big. So the hunt begins. I’m going to
Petticoat Lane at lunch time as there is a shop down there that sells decent suitcases and are always open to a bit of bartering (which I love) – nothing like a bargain (even though they already know what their crap is worth and aren’t really doing you a favour!). *Why did I just sound like the black version of Goldilocs?*

The second thing is – where the higgidy hell are all my clothes? Hhaa haaa they cannot fit me anymore! 60% of the things I was shocking out in in Jamaica in January have mysteriously shrunken. That has to be it. They’ve shrunk! So now, I’m torn between buying new stuff to take away or just buying new stuff when I’m there. How about BOTH. Lol

Anyways – Happy Friday! :o)

(album of the week will be back on Monday)
